Dataminr Buys ThreatConnect for $290M

Dataminr to buy ThreatConnect for $290M, blending external signals and internal intel as AI reshapes threat-detection markets.

Dataminr plans to acquire ThreatConnect for $290 million, combining its AI-driven threat and risk detection with ThreatConnect’s threat-intelligence management tools. The companies said the deal will create “client-tailored intelligence” that reasons across public and internal data to prioritize risks in real time.

The move expands Dataminr’s reach into enterprise cyber defense, adding ThreatConnect’s 250 enterprise and government customers—including Nike, Wells Fargo, and several Western agencies—to its roster. Both firms say their combined technologies will improve contextual threat response. Still, similar AI-security mergers have overpromised before, and success will hinge on how seamlessly their platforms integrate.

The deal reflects a wider industry pivot toward agentic intelligence—AI systems that analyze, decide, and act with minimal human input. Analysts expect that market to grow from $22.6 billion in 2024 to $322 billion by 2033, a 34% CAGR, according to Grand View Research. Whether Dataminr can fuse internal and public-signal AI effectively remains to be seen, but the acquisition adds pressure on competitors chasing the same “AI-first” security edge.

If Dataminr can successfully merge external signal analysis with internal threat data, it could set a new standard for AI-driven cyber intelligence. If not, this could become another high-profile example of how hard it is to make “AI synergy” live up to its marketing.
