Heartland Business Systems has acquired Applied Tech Solutions, marking HBS’s first acquisition since GenNx360 bought the platform in October 2025. The deal adds a managed IT and cybersecurity provider with operations in the Midwest and Rocky Mountain regions to HBS’s existing business, according to the company’s release.
HBS said the acquisition will strengthen its managed services operation and broaden its delivery capabilities. Applied Tech CEO Daniel Petersen will remain with the combined company as senior vice president of service platforms. HBS also said Applied Tech’s AI-enabled delivery platform will help improve service speed and quality for customers.
Applied Tech brings outsourced IT managed services, cybersecurity, cloud, and IT professional services to the combined company. HBS said it serves more than 3,200 clients from 17 regional offices and employs more than 675 people, including more than 400 certified engineers.
HBS is using this deal to build a larger managed services platform, not just add a small regional logo. The acquisition expands its cybersecurity bench and gives the company a bigger services footprint at a time when buyers still want fewer vendors and broader coverage.
